May–June and September offer warm weather, fewer crowds and calm waters. July and August are perfect for swimming but expect busy roads and cruise ship crowds.

How to get around

Fly into Tivat Airport (TIV), just 15 minutes from Kotor Old Town. Alternatively, Dubrovnik Airport (DBV) is around a 2-hour drive away.

How to get around

Renting a car (I use Discover Cars) is the best way to explore the bay and nearby viewpoints. Kotor, Perast and Dobrota are also connected by local buses and water taxis.
