10 Best Rooftop Bars in Bangkok, Thailand

If there’s one thing Bangkok does exceptionally well (and it does a LOT well), it’s rooftop bars. And I’m not just talking about a random terrace filled with loud tourists (read: Brits abroad) chugging down Chang beer. I mean sky-high, elevated rooftops with sweeping city views, creative cocktails and exceptional DJs playing back-to-back bangers.
What I love most about Bangkok’s rooftop scene is how varied it is. You’ve got the glam and sophisticated spots, alongside more laid-back bars where you can rock up without worrying about a dress code or a cover charge. Some bars lean into chill jazz and stripped-back acoustic sessions, others bring live DJs and an afrobeats party vibe, so you can easily tailor your evening depending on your mood (or how many margaritas you’ve already had).
I’ve tried my fair share of rooftop bars in Bangkok over multiple trips, and I’m very fortunate to have visited the best of the best. So to save you from wasting time (and money), here’s my roundup of the rooftop bars in Bangkok that are actually worth visiting, whether you’re after a late-night party sesh, a special occasion spot or just a really good cocktail with a view

Top Rooftop Bars in Bangkok
1. Tichuca
This is easily one of the most famous Bangkok rooftop bars, but does it actually live up to its hype? My vote is yes! You’ll recognise Tichuca from its otherworldly/Avatar-esque design, featuring a large LED-lit jellyfish-style tree, which is even more enchanting in person. The cocktails were banging, the DJs were playing tropical house music and dance floor fillers, plus the city skyline views were remarkable.
This bar doesn’t take reservations, only walk-ins. We arrived at 7.30 pm on a weeknight and only waited 15 minutes in the queue. When we left at 10 pm, the queue was much longer, so I recommend arriving earlier for shorter wait times.
Note: entry is available to anyone aged 20+, and you’ll need to bring a passport with you. There is no entrance fee; however, you are required to pre-purchase a drink token before you get the lift to the rooftop, which can be redeemed at the bar. Cocktails at Tichuca cost around 500 Thai Baht (£11.40/$15.50).
🕙 Opening times: Every day, 5 pm – late.
👗 Dress code: Smart casual.
🗓️ Reservations: Walk-ins only.
🎟️ COVER CHARGE: None – however, you need to purchase 1 drink per person upon entering.
📍Address: 46th floor in the T-One Building, Soi Sukhumvit 40, Phra Khanong, Khlong Toei, Bangkok 10110. (MAP)
2. Sky Bar at Lebua
This is the most iconic rooftop bar in Bangkok, thanks to its cameo in The Hangover Part II. Perched high above the city at Lebua, Sky Bar offers sweeping views over the Chao Phraya River, which are breathtakingly beautiful once the city lights up at night.
Sky Bar really does live up to the hype. I was genuinely impressed with the service, the drinks, and the overall experience, especially with the live jazz music playing throughout the evening.
It’s definitely the most expensive rooftop bar I visited in Bangkok, with cocktails around 1300 THB (£30), so I’d definitely save a visit to Sky Bar for a special occasion.
If you’re visiting Bangkok for a birthday or anniversary, I’d highly recommend booking dinner at Sirocco, which sits on the same rooftop. I honestly couldn’t fault a thing; the food is exceptional!
🕙 Opening times: Every day, 5 pm – 12.30 am.
👗 Dress code: Smart casual, no flip flops or sleeveless shirts (for men). Tailored shorts are ok.
🗓️ Reservations: Walk-ins only.
🎟️ COVER CHARGE: None.
📍Address: 64th Floor, State Tower Bangkok, 1055 Si Lom Rd, Si Lom, Bang Rak, Bangkok 10500. (MAP)
3. Eagle Nest Bar
Eagle Nest Bar is the most laid-back bar on this list. It’s a no-frills bar, but what it lacks in aesthetics and luxury trimmings, it makes up for with its spectacular views.
Located right by the Chao Phraya River, this rooftop bar has one of the best views of Wat Arun, one of Bangkok’s most iconic temples.
You’ll need to enter this bar via the Sala Arun Hotel and head up to the fifth floor. This bar gets super busy, so arrive at around 5 pm to secure a table and stay for sunset. Across the river, Wat Arun starts to light up around 6.30 pm, and it looks simply magical when it’s glowing with a pastel pink sky behind it.
This bar is small and intimate, and the perfect spot for a relaxed drink with no dress code or cover charge. Just don’t expect backpacker bar prices here. Expect to pay 290 THB for a Chang Beer and 380 THB for a cocktail.
Downstairs on the first floor of the hotel, there is also a restaurant serving specialty charcoal grill and Thai classics, with just as amazing views of Wat Arun. You can make a reservation at Eat Sight Story by emailing service@salaarun.com.
🕙 Opening times: 4 pm – 11 pm Mon–Thurs. 4 pm – Midnight Fri–Sun.
👗 Dress code: NONE.
🗓️ Reservations: Walk-ins only.
🎟️ COVER CHARGE: None.
📍Address: 5th floor, 47-49 Tha Tian Aly, Phra Borom Maha Ratchawang, Khet Phra Nakhon, Bangkok 10200. (MAP)
4. Moon Bar
Sitting on the 61st floor of the Banyan Tree Hotel, Moon Bar is completely open-air. It’s easily one of the best spots in Bangkok for golden hour, with panoramic views across the entire city.
Drinks are on the pricier side, with cocktails around THB 590 each (£13); however, they come with a selection of complimentary snacks, and they also have happy hour (buy 1, get 1 free) each evening between 9-11 pm.
The service here is outstanding, with friendly and attentive staff. When you arrive, you’re welcomed with an ice-cold towel on arrival, which is perf for those hot & sticky Bangkok nights.
I would recommend extending your evening on this rooftop and also making a reservation at Vertigo, where you can enjoy premium grilled meats and seafood on the open-air terrace, one level below Moon Bar.
🕙 Opening times: Every day, 5 pm – 1 am.
👗 Dress code: Smart casual.
📍Address: 61st floor, 21/100 100 S Sathon Rd, Thung Maha Mek, Sathon, Bangkok 101200. (MAP)
5. Tulum Sky Bar
This rooftop bar perfectly captures what it’s like to be at a beach club in Tulum, Mexico… except you’re actually on the 29th floor of a Bangkok high-rise. The open-air terrace at Tulum Sky Bar is centred around a huge goddess statue inspired by the iconic “Ven a la Luz” sculpture in Tulum.
Expect jungle-style decor, punchy cocktails with a focus on tequila and mezcal creations, Mexican-inspired bar bites and live DJs playing house music, afro beats and Latin music as the sun goes down.
I was thoroughly impressed by all the talented mixologists at Tulum, who not only made personalised cocktails but did it in style, too! I often caught them juggling liqueur bottles and ingredients high up in the air; each serve was a theatrical performance! I recommend trying the Hibiscus Dusk or Pandan Delight cocktails – ideally both, as they were 10/10!
🕙 Opening times: Every day, 5 pm – late.
👗 Dress code: Smart casual, no shorts or flip flops.
🗓️ Reservations: Book a table in advance at tulum.asia.
🎟️ COVER CHARGE: None.
📍Address: 29th Floor of the Estella Ekkamai hotel, 559 Soi Sukhumvit 63, Khlong Tan Nuea, Watthana, Bangkok 10110. (MAP)
6. Akara Sky Hanuman
Akara Sky Hanuman is so much more than just a rooftop bar; it’s a fully immersive, cultural experience and one of the best activities I did in Bangkok – read my full review of this unmissable activity in Bangkok.
This is one of the most unique rooftop bars in Bangkok, thanks to the giant illuminated Hanuman statue that towers over the bar. You’ll actually enter the bar through the mouth of Hanuman (a Hindu half-man, half-monkey deity), which leads to a large open-air terrace overlooking Bangkok’s city skyline.
There are DJs playing throughout the evening as well as live cultural performances, which happen every hour. We watched a captivating traditional Thai dance, which told the legend of Hanuman.
I would recommend arriving 1 hour before sunset and staying late until the evening to check out the rest of the immersive experiences at Akara Sky Hanuman.
In order to access this rooftop bar, you’ll need to purchase this Hanuman Sky Pass, which includes a complimentary Thai spirit shot and also includes access to the art installation rooms, infinity observation decks and cultural performances that are part of Akara Sky Hanuman. This pass costs £33.95 for sunset or evening arrival time.
Alternatively, you can get a free entry ticket if you arrive after 11 pm. There’s just a minimum spend required of 1000 THB (£22.50), which you can spend on drinks, and this will only give you access to the bar only – so no access to other areas or performances. However, there will be DJs playing late until the night (last entry 1 am)
🕙 Opening times: Every day, 5 pm – 2 am.
👗 Dress code: NONE.
🗓️ Reservations: Required: Book access tickets online AT Akaraskyhanuman.com.
🎟️ COVER CHARGE: 1000 THB entry before 11 pm (includes 1 free drink) or free entry after 11 pm with purchase of a 1000 THB minimum spend ticket redeemable at the bar.
📍Address: 61st floor, 548 One City Centre, Phloen Chit Rd, Lumphini, Pathum Wan, Bangkok 10330. (MAP)
7. Sanctuary Rooftop
Sanctuary Rooftop is an architectural masterpiece, located on the 34th floor of the InterContinental Bangkok Sukhumvit. It features a striking wooden structure right in the centre that has unsurprisingly won various design awards.
It’s definitely more low-key than some of the bigger rooftops, which I personally loved. I had one of the best cocktails I’ve ever tried here, a mango sticky rice-inspired drink that tasted exactly like the liquid version of this popular Thai dessert.
The bar snacks are also worth ordering, especially the Thai Wagyu katsu sando, which was mouth-wateringly good. Cocktails are around 450 THB each (£10), and I definitely recommend making a reservation in advance as this is one of the smaller rooftop bars, with limited seating.
I didn’t stay super late until the evening, so I didn’t get the sense if Sanctuary had a big party vibe at all. That being said, they were playing really good tunes during my visit during golden hour, 5–7 pm.
I think it’s the perfect spot for a first date, as you can actually hear the person you’re talking to or for people like me who are in long-term relationships and love a cheeky drink, but also being in my hotel bathrobe before midnight (don’t judge me).
🕙 Opening times: Every day, 5 pm – LATE.
👗 Dress code: None mentioned; however, the vibe is definitely smart casual.
🗓️ Reservations: Recommended to reserve in advance at sanctuarybangkok.com.
🎟️ COVER CHARGE: none.
📍Address: 34th Floor, Intercontinental, Sukhumvit Rd, Khlong Tan Nuea, Watthana, Bangkok 10110. (MAP)
8. Nobu Rooftop Bar
Every Nobu I’ve been to around the world has been effortlessly chic, and the Nobu Rooftop in Bangkok is no exception.
Located at the top of the Empire Tower, it’s actually one of the highest rooftop bars in the city, on the 60th floor, with impressive 360-degree views across Bangkok.
Come here for elevated cocktails and a light bites menu featuring some of Nobu’s iconic dishes like their signature Crispy Rice with Spicy Tuna (my favourite!). Note: a minimum spend of 2000 THB (£45) per person applies.
🕙 Opening times: Every day, 5.30 pm – 12 am.
👗 Dress code: None mentioned; however, the vibe is definitely smart casual.
🗓️ Reservations: Recommended to book in advance for the sunset time slot at noburestaurants.com.
🎟️ COVER CHARGE: None; however, a minimum spend of 2000 THB per person is required.
📍Address: 69th floor, The Empire, 1 S Sathon Rd, Yan Nawa, Sathon, Bangkok 10120. (MAP)
9. Lamaya Bangkok
Lamaya is the place to go for a full evening out rather than just a quick drink stop. The bar’s design takes inspiration from Khao Yai, a national park in Thailand, where wild elephants roam, and monsoon forests and waterfalls create a cinematic atmosphere.
There are two main areas: an outdoor rooftop bar where you’ll sit beneath a striking statue that comes to life with light performances at 8 pm, 9 pm and 10 pm, plus a live fire show from incredibly talented dancers (twirling flames and all) that kicks off about 10 minutes before each light show.
There’s also an indoor air-conditioned restaurant with a live band playing every evening from 8 pm, and this is where I swear I heard the voice of an angel perform one of Adele’s famous ballads.
I’d actually recommend catching sunset elsewhere in Bangkok and arriving at Lamaya from 8 pm onwards, as most of the magic happens after sundown.
All cocktails cost 420 THB (£9.50) each. I highly recommend ordering the Navajo: a punchy Jack Daniel’s and lychee-flavoured concoction. There’s a minimum spend of 500 THB in the afternoon and 1000 THB in the evenings. Note that people under 20 years old are not permitted after 10.45 pm on Friday and Saturday evenings.
🕙 Opening times: Every day, 1 pm – 2 am.
👗 Dress code: Smart casual, no shorts or flip flops (and specifically no Birkenstocks).
🗓️ Reservations: Not necessary in advance; however, you can reserve a table online at lamayabangkok.com.
🎟️ COVER CHARGE: Minimum spend of 500 THB in the afternoon and 1000 THB in the evenings.
📍Address: 30th FLOOR, Staybridge Suites. 89, 8 Sukhumvit 24 Alley, Khlong Tan, Khlong Toei, Bangkok 10110. (MAP)
10. Paradise Lost
With its pastel pink & yellow colour palette, you’d expect to find this bar on the beachfront in Miami rather than the skies of Bangkok. Paradise Lost is one of Bangkok’s lesser-known rooftop bars, and it’s well worth a visit for its 360-degree views and laidback atmosphere.
This bar is stuck in the 1980s – intentionally – with its throwback retro design encapsulating the golden era of Los Angeles with fresh California produce on the menu.
Happy hour starts at 5 pm and continues for three glorious hours until 8 pm, which covers the peak sunset golden hours. Expect to pay around 350 THB (£8) per cocktail. I recommend their lychee spritz!
You’ll even get complimentary snacks when you order cocktails. My drink came with the usual salted nuts, crisps, PLUS a bowl of fried insects – a local delicacy which admittedly I wasn’t game enough to try… maybe next time!
We did order some of their bar snacks though, and I can confirm the fried chicken bao and pork belly were delish!
🕙 Opening times: Every day, 5 pm – 1 am.
👗 Dress code: None mentioned, though I saw plenty of blokes wearing shorts. Avoid flip flops, however!
🗓️ Reservations: Not necessary.
🎟️ COVER CHARGE: none.
📍Address: 25 floor, 865 Rama I Rd, Wang Mai, Pathum Wan, Bangkok 10330. (MAP)
