Conrad Koh Samui Review: Is This 5-Star Beachfront Resort Worth It?
Looking for the best honeymoon resort in Thailand? In this Conrad Koh Samui review, I’ll share my experience at this 5-star luxury resort, known for its private infinity pools, stunning ocean views, and impeccable service.
Located on the southwestern tip of Koh Samui, this secluded resort has everything you need for a romantic and relaxing getaway in Thailand.
I spent four blissful days at Conrad Koh Samui in 2023, and I’m – almost – ashamed to admit that I didn’t leave the resort once. And why would I, when I had white sandy beaches, a bathtub fit for a queen (and her king), six restaurants & bars, a luxurious spa AND a karaoke room (yes, really!) all at my fingertips?
Keep reading for more details of my first-hand review of Conrad Koh Samui and everything you need to know about staying at this luxury resort in Thailand.

Conrad Koh Samui Review: Ultimate Guide to This Luxury Resort
Arriving at Conrad Koh Samui: First Impressions
To get to Koh Samui, you can get direct flights to Samui International Airport (USM) from Bangkok, Phuket, Chiang Mai, Singapore or Hong Kong.
You’ll arrive at one of the most beautiful airports in the world. Since this terminal is mostly outside, you’d think you’ve landed at a beach bar – and with bean bags strewn about, cafes, bars and palm trees – you’re not exactly wrong.
Once you’ve picked up your suitcase, make your way to the exit and if you’ve booked a transfer through Conrad directly, the team will be waiting for you with ice-cold water and a luxurious car with air conditioning pumping.
Alternatively, you can book your own taxi transfer to the resort which will cost around ฿1200–฿1500 (£28–£35 GBP / $35–$44 USD).
The journey to Conrad Koh Samui is a scenic 45-minute drive through the island’s tropical, hilly landscape. The resort is located on a secluded section of the coast on the southwestern tip of Koh Samui, so it feels totally private — like your own little slice of paradise!
- Postcard worthy views on arrival
- Welcome drink & cold towels
From the moment I arrived, the service was impeccable. A friendly team greeted me with cold towels, a welcome drink (the first of many cocktails), and a seamless check-in process.
Then came the best part: being whisked away in a buggy straight to my villa. Walking outside in Thailand’s sometimes intense heat and humidity? Not at this level of luxury.
Ocean View Villas Overview
Every single villa at Conrad Koh Samui comes with a private infinity pool and panoramic ocean views — so yes, every guest gets to wake up in paradise.
I stayed in a One-Bedroom Ocean View Pool Villa, and it was equally stunning as it was massive.
- A bathtub big enough for two!
- View from the bathtub
- Luxury Byredo bath products
What’s Inside the Villa?
- Living area leading out to private balcony
- Private infinity room with ocean views
- King-sized bed with 300 thread count sheets
My personal highlight? The downright adorable personalised teddy bears waiting for me in my villa, dressed in mini Conrad bathrobes with my name embroidered on one of them!
After staying at numerous 5-star hotels in Thailand, this thoughtful touch really puts Conrad Koh Samui in the lead when it comes to making their guests feel extra special.
- Personalised teddy bears

The Conrad Spa experience
One thing about me? I love a spa experience that feels fully immersive — because if I’m going to relax, I’m going all in. And let me tell you, the Conrad Spa delivers on every level.
From the moment we arrived at Conrad Spa, we were handed refreshing iced tea welcome drinks while filling out our consultation forms, instantly setting the tone for a luxury-meets-serenity experience.
Before our treatments, we got to choose a custom fragrance for our massage oil, which felt like such a personal touch. I opted for a calming floral scent, because what better way to sink into relaxation mode?
- Iced tea welcome drinks
- Custom fragrance for treatments
The treatment itself was pure bliss. The spa’s ocean-view treatment rooms make you feel like you’re floating above the Gulf of Thailand.
My therapist was incredible, using the perfect mix of Thai and Western techniques to work out all the knots I acquired after schlepping my way around the busy streets in Bangkok.
Afterwards, we were served warm herbal tea and invited to lounge in their relaxation area with a side of breathtaking views, because of course, even winding down is done in style here.

Dining: Restaurants & Bars at Conrad Koh Samui
If you’re a foodie like I am, Conrad Koh Samui does not disappoint. With six restaurants and bars to choose from, I ate (and drank) my way through some seriously incredible dishes.
🍷 Jahn – Fine Dining with a View
Perched on a hill overlooking the Gulf of Thailand, Jahn is Conrad Koh Samui’s signature fine-dining restaurant. Think perfectly marbled steaks, expertly grilled and sourced from hand-picked farms in Australia and Japan. This is the spot for a romantic candlelit dinner or a special occasion.
🍕 Azure Bar & Grill – Poolside Mediterranean Vibes
This laid-back alfresco restaurant sits right next to the infinity pool, making it the perfect spot for a long, lazy lunch.
At Azure you can enjoy a range of Mediterranean classics, fresh seafood, wood-fired pizzas, and juicy steaks cooked to order. Pair your meal with a Thai-inspired cocktail or a crisp glass of wine, and you’ve got yourself the ultimate poolside feast.
🍸 KO Lounge – Sunset Cocktails with a View
One of the best places to watch the sunset on this resort is at KO Lounge. This open-air bar sits high above the beach, offering unbeatable views over the golden waters below. Sip on expertly crafted cocktails, premium spirits, or a glass of vintage wine, and let the seriously dreamy atmosphere do the rest.
🍵 Botanikka – Kombucha, Coffee & Fresh Bakes
Start your morning right with an organic ice latte at Conrad’s onsite charming garden cafe. Botanikka serves homemade drinks made with fresh ingredients grown right on-site — so your kombucha or cold brew comes with a side of sustainability.
🍹 Seakret Bar – Beachfront Drinks & Snacks
Located right on the sand, Seakret Bar is the perfect beach break. The Thai-inspired roof (designed to look like a traditional pagoda) gives it a relaxed, island feel, while the menu serves up cocktails, beer, and savoury snacks — best enjoyed on a handcrafted wooden chair with your feet in the sand.
🍛 Zest – All-Day Thai & International Dining
For casual, all-day dining, Zest is where it’s at. The breakfast buffet is next level, with Asian and Western favourites. In the evening, Zest transforms into a Thai dining experience, serving traditional curries, spicy stir-fries, and classic comfort food.
If you’re celebrating something special (or just feeling extra fancy), you can book a private dinner on the beach or the pier. Expect a chef-curated menu, personalized service, and one of the most romantic dining experiences you’ll ever have.
Conrad Koh Samui offers private in-villa dining, where a personal chef and team of servers prepare your meals on your terrace. You can also enquire about getting a floating breakfast served in your private infinity pool for the ultimate Maldive-esque experience.
Breakfast at Conrad Koh Samui
I’ll be honest — normally, I’m the type to sleep in and completely miss a hotel breakfast. But at Conrad Koh Samui, that was never going to happen. The complimentary buffet breakfast at Zest was so good, that I was practically jumping out of bed for it every morning (a true holiday miracle).
This wasn’t just your standard hotel buffet… it was next-level indulgence! There was a massive spread of Thai and Western dishes, an egg station whipping up perfectly cooked omelettes, fresh tropical fruits that tasted like actual sunshine, and baskets overflowing with pastries that I definitely overindulged in.
But the real star? The Thai pork skewers (Moo Ping). I had them every single morning — they were that good. Juicy, flavourful, and cooked fresh on the grill, they were actually better than the ones I ate at various street food markets in Chiang Mai.
As someone who follows the three drink rule while on holiday (1 to hydrate, 1 to caffeinate & 1 to alleviate), I really appreciated the complimentary bubbles to enjoy at breakfast. I’ve stayed at some of the top resorts in French Polynesia and was surprised that a bucks fizz was an additional charge, whereas at Conrad Koh Samui it was all included.
If you’re staying at Conrad Koh Samui, make sure to set your alarm as this is one breakfast you won’t want to miss. Breakfast is served daily at Zest from 7 am – 10:30 am.
Activities at Conrad Koh Samui
Sure, I could’ve stayed in my villa for four days straight (and honestly, I nearly did), but Conrad Koh Samui also has plenty of activities available at the resort.
If you’re feeling adventurous, Conrad Koh Samui can arrange extra excursions to explore more of the island.
Go off-roading through the jungle on an ATV tour, or get your adrenaline fix on the Samui Zip Line.
And if golf is more your speed, spend a day at the Santiburi Golf Course, one of Thailand’s most scenic courses.
Conrad Koh Samui Review: Final Thoughts
…So, is a stay at Conrad Koh Samui worth It? Absolutely, 100% Yes!
Rooms start at £449 GBP / $567 USD per night (including breakfast) — which definitely isn’t cheap, but considering you get a private infinity pool, luxury amenities, and world-class dining, it’s worth every penny for a special occasion.
I’ll admit it — I’ve once spent £495 for a single night in a tiny shepherd’s hut in England (questionable life choices, I know). So when it comes to luxury stays, Conrad Koh Samui offers an unparalleled level of value.
While Thailand is known for its affordable accommodation, this resort takes it to another level — at a fraction of what you’d pay for a similar experience in other tropical corners of the world.
Would I stay here again? In a heartbeat. And maybe next time I’ll force myself to explore beyond the resort. Though after a fast-paced journey through the rest of Thailand, I was truly happy to just drop and flop at this beautiful resort.
Conrad Koh Samui is one of the most luxurious, peaceful, and all-round incredible resorts I’ve ever stayed at, and if you’re looking for the ultimate Thailand getaway, this is it.
